Artificial Intelligence expert Terence Murray said that "robotic judges" who can detect lies and identify guilty parties with 99 percent accuracy will replace human judges on court within 50 years.
"Courtroom judges will be robotic by 2070," the Daily Telegraph newspaper quoted Terence as saying. "Robots will be able to detect signs of lying that cannot be detected by humans, by analyzing irregular speech patterns, body temperature and eye movements."
Robotic judges are supposed to have cameras that capture and identify irregular speech patterns, high increases in body temperature and hand and eye movements, according to the expert.
These robots are expected to be common in most criminal and civil hearings in England and Wales in just 50 years, based on his two-year study that is due to be published next year.
From the legal point of view, the expert believes that artificial intelligence will open a new and more equitable form of digital justice, where human feelings, prejudice and error will become a thing of the past.
