The way of storing children's school meals may cause food poisoning

A recent US study warned that the way children take meals with them to school may spoil food before children eat it.

In this study, researcher Fawaz Al-Mansour from the University of Texas, USA, tested more than 700 pre-school meals for pre-school children, and found that less than 2% of the meat, vegetables and dairy products in the meal  were kept at a safe temperature.

It was shocking to discover that more than 90% of foods are perishable in these meals due to their preservation at an unsafe temperature, ”said PhD student Al-Mansour.

This study is the first of its kind in examining the food that children bring with them to school, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention warned the foods that are kept at temperatures between 40 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit for more than two hours are no  longer edible.

Although 45% of packed meals are placed in cold storage bags while 12% are kept in refrigerators, most of these perishable foods are in the wrong area, and this means that the bacteria that cause food poisoning such as e-coli and salmonella can  multiply quickly Inside the sandwiches that children eat.
