Russian scientists restore "Noah's Ark”

Researchers at Lomonosov University (Moscow State University) have discovered more than 250 new species of creatures living on Earth.

And as part of the realization of the project of preparing the national inventory of living systems, which it called "Noah's Ark".

It’s aim is to prepare a stockpile for the cells of every living creature that has lived and lives at the present time on the face of the earth and its core."

A scientific team of 300 scientists at Moscow University had been working on the project over a period of 5 years. This resulted in the registration of more than a million samples and the formation of about 70 groups of samples of cells according to their types, as well as the discovery of 250 new types of living creatures that were not recorded and described earlier.

The university president added that the realization of the project led to the publication of a thousand scientific articles. He explained that one of the priorities of Moscow State University is to conduct breakthrough research in the field of biology and medicine.

It is noteworthy that Moscow State University held an agreement in 2014 with the Russian Science Foundation to prepare the national stock of living systems "Noah's Ark".

The research program includes 5 directions according to the types of biological materials, namely: animals, plants, microorganisms, fungi, human biological materials, as well as biological information.

Preparing a stock of biological materials will help scientists preserve the biodiversity of our planet and suggest new ways to benefit from biological materials.
