Apple electric car may debut next year

A new report by Taiwan's Economic Daily News reports that Apple's electric car, which has been rumored for a long time, could appear at least two years ahead of schedule.

According to the report, which cites people in Taiwanese companies, apple's electric car is supposed to be launched in the third quarter of 2021.

The report claims that Taiwanese manufacturers are preparing to increase production of Apple's electric car components early in the second quarter of next year, adding that Apple is secretly testing dozens of prototype cars across the road in California.

Apple received a permit from the California Department of Motor Vehicles to test self-driving vehicles in 2017, and that year they were monitored for the use of Lexus SUV's equipped with LiDAR equipment.

Several sources claimed that the electric car would be released between 2023 and 2025, including trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The report cites a manager at a major Taiwanese manufacturer who said That Apple is targeting the launch in September 2021, at least two years before the original plan.

While everything is possible, the previous time frame is questionable, especially because of the impact of the epidemic.

Earlier this month, a DigiTimes report claimed that Apple was in preliminary negotiations with car electronics suppliers, suggesting that its car project was still in the fairly early stages.

Taiwan semiconductor manufacturer TSMC, Apple's chip maker partner, is working with Apple to develop a self-driving chip, the report said.

Over the years, there have been numerous reports of Apple's plans to develop a complete vehicle or work on artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicle driving techniques in general.

John Giannandrea, Apple's head of artificial intelligence, recently led the project.

Given that automakers often announce all new cars in advance years ago, one possibility is that apple's electric car could be previewed in late 2021, but without releasing it.
