Why do Apple's AirPods Max cost $200 more than its competitors?

Last week, Apple announced the AirPods Max headset, but the first thing users noticed was not the sleek design of the new headphones or features, but its very expensive price, coming at $549,which is about $170 higher than the price of Bose Headphones 700 headphones when launched, and $200 more for Sony's WH-1000XM4.

The price difference increases significantly, given that both of the previous speakers are now on sale for $339 and $279, respectively, so the gap between the AirPods Max and its two largest competitors currently stands at $210 and $270, respectively.

Apple is therefore required to justify this high price, given that its competing headphones are very good and offer most of the features they offer at a very lower price.

So today we'll review the highlights of the AirPods Max headphones that Apple has made offering at this price, as well as its most prominent flaws:

1. The design of the AirPods Max speakers looks customized for you:

Apple has built the AirPods Max headphones to make you feel comfortable, and they look especially designed for you: the comfortable design and frame around the mesh-cloth head will help distribute the weight evenly more than the Bose 700 or Sony XM4, despite the relatively heavy weight of Apple's headphones.

Another feature is the ear lining made of rubber sponges designed especially for sound insulation to provide you with a gentle insulation that immerses you in a stunning sound, plus the adjustable arms extend smoothly and hold them in place so you can feel comfortable with them and enjoy the highest degree of acoustic insulation.

2- Processing audio computer:

The AirPods Max, an Apple H1, integrates each slide into each ear cover, has a special audio design and advanced software that enables it to use computational sound to deliver unique listening experience.

These slides help play everything from adaptive audio equalizer and active noise cancellation to spatial sound feature, and basically, the speakers are able to adjust the sound in real time based on various factors, including: the suitability of ear cushions.

3. The best noise cancellation technology in headphones to date:

Apple offers highly sophisticated features in its speakers to justify the high price: the best noise-cancelling technology to date, with each part of the speakers having three facing microphones facing the outside to detect ambient noise, and one microphone inside the speaker cover to monitor the sound that reaches your ear.

Using the H1 audio process, noise cancellation constantly adapts to real-time headphone mode and movement. The main difference between Apple, Bose and Sony headphones is that AirPods Max's computer audio technology is constantly adapting to motion.

4- Spatial sound feature:

Apple's Spatial Audio feature in AirPods Pro uses dynamic head tracking to raise sounds around you for content recorded at 5.1, 7.1 or Dolby Atmos, where the feature tracks the position of your head in coordination with the position of your iPhone or iPad, and then compares motion data to reset the audio field.

What are the main flaws?

The AirPods Max supports some new features, but we're still waiting for the headsets to be launched next Tuesday to try them out and judge how powerful these features are, and whether they're enough to justify this high price.

But that doesn't mean that the speakers lack some of the features available in competing speakers, for example: the 20-hour battery life is a little low, while the Sony XM4 comes with a 30-hour battery with a single charge, which is a big difference.

In addition, the Digital Crown in the AirPods Max speakers seems impractical, as clicking on the touch controls in Bose and Sony headsets is easier.

The Bose 700 also gives you more control with 11 noise cancellation settings, while in the AirPods Max you have only two options (playback) or (unplay), and both Sony XM4 and Bose 700 have the traditional headphone jack to use an audio cable with them, while this is not available in Apple speakers.
