How to find accidentally deleted Instagram posts and share them again?

INSTAGRAM has revealed a handy new tool for its Android and iOS apps which is perfect if you delete a photo by accident that has tonnes of likes and comments on it.

The new Recently Deleted tool is rolling out on Instagram this week and will be useful to users that have accidentally thrown a post that had plenty of likes or comments in the trash bin.

As the name suggests, this feature will let Instagram users recover recently deleted posts and restore this content to their profile.

Photos, videos, reels, IGTV videos and stories can all now be brought back to an Instagram users' profile.

Instagram users will only have 24 hours to hit undo on deleted Stories.

However, all other content can be retrieved within 30 days of it being deleted.

Instagram revealed this new feature in a blog post. In it they said: "We’re rolling out Recently Deleted, a feature to help you manage your content. We know this is something people have been asking for and now, for the first time, you can review and restore deleted content in the Instagram app. We also added protections to help prevent hackers from compromising your account and deleting posts you’ve shared."

To start with, Instagram users will now be asked to verify that they are the rightful holder of the profile in question when attempting to permanently delete or restore content.

To bring back any deleted Instagram content users will then have to go to Settings > Account > Recently Deleted.

From there, an Instagram user can either restore or permanently delete the content.

Instagram users will also need to have the latest version of the iOS or Android app installed.

Instagram added: "We know hackers sometimes delete content when they gain access to an account, and until now people had no way of easily getting their photos and videos back.

"We will ask people to first verify that they are the rightful account holders when permanently deleting or restoring content from Recently Deleted."

In other Instagram news, the photo sharing social network is also currently testing a big change to Stories.

As reported by The Verge, in selected countries Instagram has been disabling the ability to share feed posts to Stories.

Affected users have been getting notifications about this in-app.

The Instagram notification says: "We hear from our community that they want to see fewer posts in Stories.

"During this test, you won’t be able to add a feed post to your Story."

It appears this test is being carried out to see how this impacts user engagement with the popular Instagram feature.
