Low levels of Vitamin B12 can cause weak bones

Vitamin B12 deficiency can have indirect effects in various areas of the body. Evidence suggests that low levels of B12 can cause osteoporosis ( a condition characterized by a decrease in the density of bone, decreasing its strength and resulting in fragile bones).

Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause a series of health problems because it is an essential nutrient, and strengthens the body by maintaining the health of nerve cells and blood cells, and helps the formation of DNA, the genetic material in all cells, so insufficient vitamin B12 intake can cause the occurrence. Obvious problems.

Evidence shows an association between low levels of B12 and an increased risk of osteoporosis.

The study found that men with low levels of vitamin B12 suffered significantly lower bone mineral density (BMD) in the hip, and women in the spine, compared to those with higher levels of the vitamin.

A BMD test can provide a snapshot of your bone health.

The researchers in the study attribute the link in part to the role vitamin B12 may play in bone formation.

Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include:

• A pale yellow color to your skin

•Sore tongue and redness.

• Changes in the way you walk and move.

• Vision disturbance.

• Irritability.

• Depression.

• Changes in the way you think, feel and behave.
