Flexible ePaper color screens may revolutionize the future of fashion

E Ink has teamed up with Plastic Logic to create ePaper screens, flexible, color-changing electronic paper screens based on Advanced Color Electronic Paper Technology (ACeP).

E Ink is responsible for the new technology called ACeP, a high-quality color reflecting electronic paper that can produce full colors in each pixel without using the color filter matrix.

ACeP technology can help revitalize the alternative screen industry, and ACeP screens have so far been used mainly for signage, which do not require panels to be flexible.

The addition of Plastic Logic technology allows for the expansion of applications that may require thinner and lighter displays.

ACeP displays are a very low-power option compared to conventional displays, and can create up to 32,000 colors, giving them a great advantage compared to most types of electronic paper, which appear only in black and white.

E Ink is now working with Plastic Logo to design E-Paper screens that can be used in clothing, as designers look for new ways to make clothes more environment friendly without compromising people's sense of fashion.

E Paper screens can be the perfect answer, allowing people to change the look of their clothes, and designers can include such screens in smart clothing and jewelry.

The two companies have created a glass-free organic panel that is lighter, thinner and more durable than regular electronic paper screens.

Plastic Logic's thin, glass-free organic membrane transistor screens are high-precision, lightweight and extremely low-power.

It is also more durable than standard TFT glass-based screens and is thinner and lighter, making it ideal for applications, such as wearables.

The first 2.1-inch, 240×146pixel Legio panel comes with support for six colors, including black and white, and is supported by the ultrachip UT8156 monosensor.
