How do you easily block certain sites in chrome browser?



Knowing how to block certain websites in Chrome is critical, allowing you to avoid sites that may spread viruses and malware on your computer to steal your personal data, or you may want to block certain sites because they contain inappropriate content.

Here's how to easily block certain websites in Google Chrome:

Note: Google doesn't offer a clear way to block websites in your browser, so in this article we'll use the free BlockSite, which allows you not only to block inappropriate or harmful websites, but can also be used as a focus tool and increase your productivity by temporarily or permanently blocking distracted websites, such as Facebook or YouTube.

First: How to install the extension in the browser:

  • Open Google Chrome browser in a computer, then go to chrome's online store.
  • In the search box at the top left of the screen, type: BlockSite, then press the first result on the right side of the screen.


  • At the top of the screen that shows you, tap the (add Chrome) option, and then confirm it again by pressing the Add extension in the pop-up that appears to you.


  • After you install the extension in your browser, you'll open a new tab showing its terms and conditions, after reading it click the (I agree) option.

Second: How to blacklist sites using Block Site:

  • Click on the add-on icon in Google Chrome at the top right of the screen.
  • In the window that appears to you, press the (I agree) option, then press the gear icon at the top of the window.


  • A new tab will open for you in your browser.
  • In this window, in the box above, enter the URL of the website you want to block.
  • Press the (+) button on the right in the same box to add the location to the blacklist.


  • Now the extension will block the site from working in your browser.
  • If you try to access the site you blocked, you'll see the following page:


Note: If you want to unblock any website, just click on the red (-) sign on the right side of the site in question in the list of blocked sites below.
