"The sharp increase in data traffic, the speed at which the battery runs out or the disappearance of encryption when using the Internet on the phone are indirect signs that the phone is being spied on," Said Dmitry Coramin, a technical expert at jet infosystems Center for Protection and Data Analysis.
"The owner of the phone should pay attention to how his device works with networks, all the operators of telephone networks currently use encryption in data transfers, if we warn the phone that a particular network does not use encryption, we should be careful against connecting to this network, and the owner of the phone should pay attention and take care when he notices that network activity is increasing for one of his phone applications while he is not using this application," the expert added.
The expert pointed out that some phone hacking operations take place through unofficial cellular stations or belonging to the main companies operating phones, so this can be avoided by providing the phone with a special application that compares the network information that appears in the phone with the information provided by the official operators of cellular lines, and discovers the problematic networks of the basic networks.
Coramin also advised owners of phones and smartphones to protect their devices with protection software from malicious "Trojan virus and software", which is used to spy on phones.
The expert emphasized that today there is no specific approved way to know whether the phone is subject to spying or not, but updating the anti-virus software in the phone on a regular basis will help reduce such risks.
